April 21 Opus 118 COVID-19 Update

Dear Opus 118 Harlem School of Music Community,

As we continue to monitor updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and in line with other NYC cultural organizations, we have extended the suspension of in-person events at Opus 118 through the end of this school year.

Performances

Due to the Mayor’s announcement canceling all non-essential events through June, all concerts and recitals for this school year have been canceled, including the annual End of Year Concert. We look forward to seeing you at these events next school year!

After-School Program

For the remainder of the spring semester, private lesson instruction will continue to be delivered online. During this time, attendance and scheduling policies remain the same. We will reach out directly to After-School Program families regarding additional online performing opportunities and projects. We are grateful to our faculty and families for adjusting so quickly to this new method.

In-School Program

Informed by recent updates from Mayor De Blasio and the NYC Department of Education, we anticipate that public school instruction will continue to be delivered online for the remainder of the school year. Please visit the DOE web site for the latest alerts. While school remains online, In-School Program group classes are suspended.

Opus 118 staff continues to work off-site during this time and we are available during our normal hours by email and through the Opus 118 phone, 646-842-2775.

Finally, if you’re able to support the Opus 118 community during this difficult time, please consider making a donation today

We remain greatly inspired by your continued commitment to arts education no matter the circumstance and hope that you and your loved ones are well. Thank you for your support during this time and always!
